Come out and join us for a leisurely jaunt through the country to the Cedar Creek Grist Mill outside of Woodland, WA.
The Cedar Creek Grist Mill is a historical, water-powered, grain-grinding mill. Volunteers provide demonstrations and bags of fresh-milled flour and cornmeal to guests. Bring along a bag for some hot off the grind flour you can take home.
The Grist Mill hosts many free special events during the year — such as the popular cider press — and they all include some good eats!
--------------------------------------------
We will start at PhD on May 12th, This will be a brown bag lunch ride.
We will meander out of Tigard and head north on 205 Freeway to connect with Highway 14 East and go up over Cape Horn. We will turn up the Salmon Creek Highway and from there will meander through the foothills of Skamania County and Clark County. We will cross the Washougal River and will follow the Washougal River almost to the Columbia. We will turn off and go through some more of the foothills and connect with the Lewis River. We will work our way over through Amboy and Yacolt and down into Woodland Cedar Creek just outside of Woodland, Washington. After we have our lunch and tour the happenings at the Gristmill, which will be a step back in time to show you how flour and cornmeal is made from water power. After the tour we will proceed into Woodland and tour the Lilac Festival in the Lilac Gardens and then we will call it a day.
We will head back in towards Vancouver and Portland on I-5 and split off as you all find your own home destinations. The mileage of this fide is approximately 75 miles, but pretty close to a 6-hour riding day with the tours included. We will ride safe and have fun!
