Hells Canyon Rally ~ Overnighter

LRC: Bob Heino ([email protected])

Date: July 11-14 (Thursday - Sunday)

Arrive: PHD @ 9:30 am

KSU: 10:00 am

On July 11, 2019 at approximately 10am, the ride to the Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally will depart from Paradise Harley Davidson.  This will be a ride that is scheduled to be about 6 hours long and is expected to be about 7 with planned fuel stops and breaks that we will be taking.  The route to the rally is about 350 miles, and if that sounds like a long day it is…but it is sooo worth it when we get there.  The ride will end when we get to Baker City.  Everyone is on their own to ride whatever/whenever they want or meet up with other people to ride.  The ride home will not be a chapter ride to allow flexibility for people’s return schedules.  You are welcome to ride back with me, but you are also free to choose your own departure

This rally covers 3 days of riding in some of the best motorcycle territory in the state of Oregon.  Not only are the locals extremely friendly and helpful but the roads in Oregon/Idaho are pretty damned good too.  There are 10 or so rides to choose from that total well over 1000 miles of diverse terrain from a route that follows the Snake River into Hells Canyon on the Idaho side, to routes that are in some elevation or even out into the high desert countryside.  Baker City rolls out the red carpet and turns main street into a motorcycle only area with bikes, food and merchandise vendors plus local bars/eateries that accommodate riders and locals alike.  There is a diverse group that attends this rally.  Different motorcycle brands and classes are represented, different countries are represented, different riding styles are represented and there are different forms of entertainment to help you meet some people you may not normally meet.  That is a lot of things being represented, and you should come and check it out if you can.

Accommodations are at a hotel, RV park (if that’s how you roll), or tent camping.  The camping is at Baker High School on a field near the gym where tents camping spots are not assigned, but areas are claimed.  There are free showers available and ample restroom facilities.  The camping is quiet, respectful, and by far some of the best rally camping I have ever seen.  The HS girls soccer team runs the camp site and they sell donuts and coffee in the mornings and ice water and sports drinks in the warmer afternoons for you after the ride as a fundraiser and they are awesome hosts.  Everyone was low key and respectful to the girls and their coaches, who btw are hosting the whole time working to make it a good experience that you want to come back to.

I look forward to seein’ you and will be around at various chapter events to answer any questions you may have about the ride, the rally or other stuff you may like to discuss about it.

Ride far, fast and most of all, ride safe.
